How The Anointing Led Me

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

HOW THE ANOINTING LED ME.

The text we just studied from First John says, "the anointing which ye have received of  Him abideth IN you... [and] teacheth you of all things." What is that anointing for? It's to teach you all things!

Google commons

I remember the night I was born again: I was born again the 22nd day of April 1933. I know that an unction or anointing came into me that very night. I am just as conscious of it on the
inside of me as I am of my two ears on the outside of me.

The Holy Spirit began to try to teach me a lot of things, but my head wouldn't go along with it. I didn't know to listen to Him. So often we have been religiously brainwashed. Our heads are all cluttered up with religious things, and we have not been trained to listen to and follow our spirits. But it was there on that bed of sickness as a 15- and 16-year- old invalid that I got into the Word. The spirit of God taught me about divine healing.

Five doctors had told me,
"You're going to die—that's all there is to it. You can't live. There's not one chance in a million for you to live."
But something inside me—that anointing that teaches you all things—that inward "something"—said,
"You don't have to die. Not now. Not at this age. Not as a teenager. You can live. You can be healed!"
I said,
 "Can I?"
Something inside me said,
"It's all in the Book. Get in the Book. The Bible—that's where it is!"

And thank God I got in there, and He taught me. I didn't have an earthly teacher. It was difficult, however. It's easier to learn spiritual things if you have a human teacher, because you can see the teacher, listen to him or her, and the witness of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you will let you know whether or not they're teaching what is right. Thank God, He taught me. I listened to Him, and He led me right into the Word, right into faith—and right into healing.

What if I never had listened? I never would have been taught; I would have died and gone on to glory and missed doing what God called me to do; and we wouldn't have any RHEMA
Bible Training Center. I'm so glad I learned to listen!

I saw after my healing that if I had listened to what that "something" on the inside of me had been trying to tell me, I would have been out of that bed a lot sooner. I was an invalid 16 long months before I was healed.

I'll challenge anybody anywhere that if they've got the Holy Spirit living inside them—the One who is the Author of the Bible—He'll lead them right into divine healing. If it's the same Holy Spirit who authored this Book, He's going to teach you what's in there.

When He opened the Word to me, I acted upon the Word. I didn't know anybody who believed in divine healing, so I didn't have anybody to pray for me. I learned to listen, thank God, to
my spirit.

On the inside of me was this voice teaching me. It said, "You believe all right as far as you know, but that last clause of Mark 11:24—"and ye shall have them"—goes with the preceding clause, "believe that ye receive them."

MARK 11:24
"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

Like a flash, I saw it. What I'd been trying to do was get healed first—have it first—and then I was going to believe it. He said, "Believe it first, and then you'll have it."

So I began to say, right out loud in my room, "I believe. believe. I believe that I receive healing for the deformed heart. I believe I receive healing for the paralysis. I believe I receive healing for the incurable blood disease."

And while I was saying that and praising God for it, that anointing in me—IN me—said,
"Arise. People who are well ought to be up at 10:30 in the morning."
I thought for a moment, How am I going to get up? I'm paralyzed.

But when I made the effort and acted upon the Word, the power of God came down on me and went through me like a bolt of electricity!

I stood upright on my feet and was healed—and I have been healed ever since. I say this to the glory of God: I've had half a century of divine health. The last headache I had was in August 1933, but don't misunderstand me: I'm not opposed to doctors. Thank God for them. Medical science will help people as much as it can. If I'd have needed to go to a doctor in the past half century, I would have gone—but I haven't needed to. I've sent other people to the doctor, however, paid their bills, and bought their medicine.

(Doctors often can keep people alive until we can get enough word in them to get them healed.)

My healing came about by my listening to that inward anointing that teaches you all things. I listened, obeyed, and off the bed I came. I would challenge anybody who is born again (because you're born of the Holy Spirit): The Spirit will lead you into the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was that same Spirit—that same anointing that teaches—who led me into the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

After my healing, I began to seek out the fellowship of those who believed like I did. Some Full Gospel people had come to our town. Even though there were a lot of things about them that I didn't understand and didn't agree with, I didn't criticize them. I welcomed them with open arms. I was glad to find somebody who believed in faith and healing that I could fellowship with. We need fellowship.

Now, you don't have to go to Full Gospel services too long until people start preaching and testifying about the baptism in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. When they did, I closed my ears, because I didn't know whether it was right or wrong. I thought, I'd just put up with a little fanaticism to have a little fellowship around faith and healing. I was about to enroll in a Baptist seminary.

Yes, you can be thoroughly saved, get people saved, and healed every Sunday, see miracles performed, and still close your ears to other things of the Word. God will bless you all He can, because He's out to bless you. He's not out to "get" you, praise the Lord. He'll confirm His Word. If you preach about salvation, people will get saved. If you preach about healing, people will get healed.

I preached water baptism, and people got baptized in water. I preached prayer, and people prayed. I preached living right, and people lived right. But none of them got baptized with the Holy Spirit, because I never said anything about it!

Learn To Depend On Him For Your Healing

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

DEPEND ON YOUR SPIRIT.

"For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
 Be thou removed,
and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those
things which he saith shall come to pass;
he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire, when ye  pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

Your spirit knows things that your head does not know, because the Holy Spirit is in your spirit.
When medical science gave me up to die as a teenager  and said they could do nothing further for me, I knew somehow that if there was help for me anywhere it would  be in the Bible.

I started with the New Testament because I knew I  didn't have much time. Eventually I came to Mark 11:23  and 24. When I came to Mark 11:24, something from outside  me somewhere said to my mind, That doesn't mean what  things  soever  ye  desire  physically,  or  materially,  or  financially. That just means whatsoever things ye desire  spiritually. Healing has been done away with.

I tried to get my pastor to come and tell me what Mark  11:24 did mean. He did not come. One preacher finally did  come. He patted my hand, put on a professional voice and  said, "Just be patient my boy. In a few more days it will all  be over."

I accepted the verdict and lay there expecting to die. It  was two months before I got back into the Bible and back to Mark 11:23 and 24.

Google commons

I said, "Lord, I tried to get someone to help me and I couldn't. So I am going to tell You what I am going to do. I am just going to take You at Your Word. When You were here on earth, You said it. I am going to believe it. If You  didn't lie about it, I am coming off this bed, because I can believe what You said I can believe."

Then I hit on this idea. (It took me a long time because I had limited use of my hands. They propped the Bible in front of  me  and I  just  sort  of  "scooted"  the  pages.)  I decided to run my reference on faith and healing. I came to James 5:14 and 15.

JAMES 5:14,15
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of  the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
I thought all the rest of the healing scriptures and prayer promises hinged on that—I thought you HAD to call for the elders of the church. (You don't have to—you just can if you need to.) So I began to cry, "Dear Lord, if I have to call for the elders of the church to anoint me with oil to be healed, then I can't be healed. I don't know any elders of the church that believe in that."

Google commons

I had been saved about six months, and I had never heard an inward voice. I am not talking about the voice of the Spirit of God—that is more authoritative—I am talking about that still small voice of my spirit. My spirit said to me, "Did you notice that verse said that the prayer of faith shall save the sick?"

I had to look again. I'd had my mind on the elders and  had missed that.
"Yes," I said aloud, "that is what it says!"
It came as a real shock to me. Then on the inside of me these words were spoken,
"You  can  pray  that  prayer  as  well  as  anyone  can."
Hallelujah!

But my spiritual education was slow—just like yours. I stayed in that bed nine more months before I finally saw that I had to believe I received my healing before it would be manifested.
It was while I was praying and saying,
"I believe that I receive my healing,"
that I saw what I must do. I said,
"I believe that I receive healing from the top of my head to the soles of my feet."

Google commons

Then I began to praise God because I believed that I received my healing. Again, on the inside of me, I heard these words—this was not that authoritative voice, but just a still small voice, so faint I would not have heard it if my mind and body had been very active—
"Now you believe that you are well."
I said, "I sure do."
That inward voice said,
"Get up then. Well  people ought to be up at 10:30 in the morning."

I  had  been  paralyzed.  It  was  a  struggle.  I  pushed myself. Finally, I got up to where I was draped over the bedpost. My knees sagged down not far from the floor. I had no feeling from my waist down. But draped over that bedpost I said it again,
"I want to announce in the Presence of Almighty God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the holy angels present in this room, and I want to call the devil to record and all evil spirits that may be present in this room, that according to Mark 11:24, I believe that I receive my healing."

Google commons

When I said that, physically, I felt something. It felt like someone above me was pouring a pitcher of honey on me. I felt it strike me on the top of my head. It seemed to pile up like honey would, and then it began to ooze down over me. It had a warm glow to it. It spread down over my head, down my neck and shoulders, down my arms and out the ends of my fingers, and down my body and out the ends of my toes.

All of a sudden I was standing straight! I have been straight ever since.
But I want you to see this. I listened to my spirit. Faith is of the spirit. Your faith will not work to its fullest until you learn some of these things. Learn to depend on Him the One who is in you. Learn to develop your own spirit.

Have faith in the fact that your faith in God works.

Whosoever...

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

Whosoever.....

Mark 11:24 is the verse that brought me off the bed of sickness. It is the verse I’ve used as an individual in prayer more than any other verse in the Bible. I’ve preached and taught on this verse more than any other text in the Bible.

Mark 11:24 was such a great blessing to me as I lay sick in bed. I had been given up to die by medical science. In those dark days on the bed of sickness, five doctors came and went, shaking their heads, saying that I had to die. They said I didn’t have even one chance to live, not even one chance in a million.

Then the preacher came and said I should be patient because in a few days it would all be over. It may seem funny, but I can’t tell it without tears coming to my eyes. It was between 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon on a hot August day in Texas. The sun was shining brightly and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. But when that preacher left my room, telling me it would all be over in a few days, that room was dark. It was as though someone had pulled the blinds and had just put out the sunlight.

It was so dark. The preacher said I had to die.But thank God for this Word that fell from the lips of the Master as He walked the old dusty roads of Judaea long ago. Thank God, Jesus was talking to me when He said those words in Mark 11:24!

I wrote in the margin of my Bible that this verse is for me. The word, “whosoever” in Mark 11:23 applied to me. So beside the words, “. . . WHOSOEVER shall say unto this mountain . . .” I wrote: “This means me.”

Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say unto you . . .” and I put my name where it says “you.” Jesus said, “Therefore I say unto Kenneth Hagin.” I just took God at His Word! He said it, and I believed it. And you can put your name in that verse too.

My heart leapt within me when I read this verse of Scripture and something on the inside of me was overjoyed and thrilled with these words from the lips of Jesus. It seemed that someone had turned on a light inside of me. On the inside of me something lit up.

Jesus is talking in this verse about what you desire. He’s telling you how to get the desires of your heart. He’s discussing the subject of prayer. He’s talking about how you through prayer can receive the desires of your heart.

This is the verse of Scripture that brought healing and strength to my body and to my poor deformed heart. This verse has enabled me, through these more than fifty years, to go almost constantly day and night without sickness, disease, or pain.

For the first thirty years of my ministry, I never really stopped to take a vacation. I would hold two to four services almost every day. Minister friends told me they didn’t see how I held up under it. They said it surprised them that I didn’t wear out.

But I live by what I preach. It’s not a chore and it’s not a job to teach the Word of God. It’s a thrill to do it. The Word works!

Jesus is talking about how you as an individual can receive the desires of your heart. Many times, people read something else into Mark 11:24. They think God might answer their prayer if it’s His will. Well, it must have been His will to answer their prayers or Jesus never would have said to ask!

If it wasn’t God’s will that you have the desires of your heart, then Jesus  lied about it by saying believers were to ask. I would much rather believe that someone else lied about this verse, than to believe that Jesus lied.

For about a month after that preacher left my room as I lay on the bed of sickness, I never even looked at the Bible. I didn’t even ask to have the Bible brought to me because I thought I was going to die at any minute. I thought, Surely if the preacher knew of any help for me, he would have told me. But he just told me that in a few more days it would all be over.

Google creative commons

In October, following that day in August when the preacher came to see me, I asked Momma to bring the Bible to my bed. I opened it to this verse in Mark 11:24 and I read it again. Then I told the Lord that the doctors said I had to die; in fact, five of them had said I had to die.

The last doctor spent forty-five minutes talking to me one day explaining my condition to me. He told me nothing could be done for me. He did say that unless a Higher Power intervened, I would die. He told me to stay ready to go. When the preacher came, he wasn’t even as kind as the doctor was about my condition! He didn’t even ask me whether I was ready to go or not. He just said that in a few more days it would all be over.

So I told the Lord what the preacher had said. Then I pointed out to Jesus that when He was on the earth He had said, “ . . Wha.t things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24).

I told Jesus that the desire of my heart — the one main consuming desire of my heart — was to have a well body. I told Jesus that I was going to take Him at His Word. I told Him that if I didn’t get off that bed, it would be because He told a lie in His Word. I said that if His Word didn’t work, then I was going to have my folks throw my Bible in the trash can.

Google creative commons

But I knew that His Word wasn’t a lie, and I also told Him this. I knew it was the truth. I told Him that I was going to get off that bed. I didn’t get off the bed that day, but you can see I made it!

Don’t try to put some kind of an interpretation on the Word of God. Just take it for what it says. In Mark 11:24, Jesus is talking about your desires. I can’t make this scripture work for someone else. I can help the other fellow with my faith sometimes, and get the blessing of God to work for him to some extent, but there is a part that he has to play in answered prayer.

I can’t always make God’s Word work for the other fellow; it depends on what He does with the promises in God’s Word himself. But I can make God’s Word work for me, and you can make it work for you too. Jesus is talking about what things soever you desire. He’s talking about your praying. This verse does apply to the other fellow, but he has to appropriate it himself. You can’t do it for him.
